Sonic Rivals 2 trailer is filled with button mashing

Video game trends are fairly commonplace in the industry. For example, cel shading was the "it" thing to do a few years ago. Now, it's button mashing a la Resident Evil 4 and God of War. PSP games are not immune to this increasingly tiresome gimmick -- even Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow (somewhat unnecessarily) featured the gameplay device.

Sonic Rivals 2 is proudly featuring the gameplay mechanic in its latest trailer, and we have to admit, it's probably for the best. Races will become interesting as there's more interactivity to each level. Instead of simply blindly moving forward from point A to B, the required button presses will add a bit more depth (or so we hope).

Take-Two acknowledges Manhunt 2 hack

After word spread throughout the internet of gamers hacking the M-rated version of Manhunt 2 to unlock its censored content, Take-Two has now confirmed the diabolical deed.

"Multiple edits were made to revise Manhunt 2 for its M-rated version. Hackers apparently have altered one of those edits to produce an illegally modified version of the game that can only be played on an unauthorized, modified PlayStation Portable handheld system," a Take-Two rep wrote to GamePolitics.com. "All of the game material, and especially these specific edits, was submitted to and reviewed by the ESRB in accordance with requirements regarding disclosure that were enacted two years ago and any contrary suggestion is inaccurate and irresponsible."

Because the ESRB approved Rockstar's edits of the game, it will probably be safe from any actual lawsuits, but that probably won't stop some uneducated media members from blowing it out of proportion. We just can't wait to hear from dear ol' Jack.

Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G due in March

For those of you still reeling over the last Monster Hunter title on the PSP, we've got some news you might want to gobble up and get ready to gather even more monsters. The title, admittedly, has a much stronger audience in Japan but its following here is nothing to scoff at. Earlier at TGS, a third portable entry was announced, rather, an expansion of the second entry, but we didn't expect it to get a release date that's not in the very distant future at all.

Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G is due out in March of next year, in Japan. The game is going to ship as part of a slim PSP bundle, but that doesn't mean you can't snag the game on its own. Even though the game is due out in a few months, there's really quite little we know about it. It would have been funny if it had some connection to the recently cancelled PS3 game, but then again, maybe that'd be less funny and more sad. Either way, those who hunt monsters, rejoice!

Slim Guard Skin for PSP keeps grease, dust at bay

You know what really stinks? When you're showing off your PSP to a friend, but they laugh and say "you must be very greasy, as there are fingerprints all thereabouts on your handheld gaming device!" This can be a problem that follows you for the rest of the day.
